Egnazia (or Gnazia) it is an ancient city pugliese (of which today ruins remain) only, near the today's Fasano, in the Province in Brindisi. Center of the messapis or the peucezis, was center of ceramics manufactures of the IV and III century a.C.. In language messapica had called Gnathia, while from the Romans you/he/she had called Egnatia or Gnatia and from the Greek Egnatias or Gnàthia. The confinements it is found to among the Peucezia (to north) and the Messapia (to south), along the so-called threshold messapica. Quoted by Plinio, Strabone and Orazio, that in one trip of his from Rome in Brindisi, he/she wrote of it. Now in the province in Brindisi (next to the border with that of Bari) and few more kilometers to north of Savelletri of Fasano, the center of Egnazia is one of the most interesting archaeological sites in Puglia.
